Bolting improvement in Ampas canyon

18 July 2010 — Savas Paragkamian, Yiannis Vargiyakakis and Manos Petrakis installed 17 bolts and plates in Ampas canyon as part of the HSS Crete Section bolting project.

Ampas: south Heraklion, Asterousia range. Entrance at Paranymfoi village (480m), exit at Tris Ekklisies (sea level). 25 rappels, longest 45m. Known for a 140m waterfall immediately after the third descent, split into four sections. Large waterfalls are a feature of Asterousia canyons (Agia Paraskevi, Mesosfinι, Ethiano, etc.). Dry outside winter and early spring.
